1. How does your country define hazardous waste? -Hazardous Waste refers to radioactive, explosive, toxic inflammable, pathogenic, irritating, corrosive, oxidizing or other chemical substances which may cause danger to human (health) and animals or damage plants, public property and the environment.
Please explain the differences, if any, in your national hazardous waste definitions from the Basel Convention's definitions. -Differences between Cambodia's hazardous waste definitions and the Basel convention's definitions is that the radioactive substances are considered Hazardous Waste in Cambodia's hazardous waste definitions.
2. Does your country possess a national hazardous waste import prohibition law or policy?

No: X (if not, please explain as specifically as you can why not. What obstacles remain?) Not yet. There are some obstacles remaining, as follows:-Deficiency of law and regulation for implementation -Technology is still weak -Human resource is limited and -Lack of financial resources
8. Does your country intend to ratify the Decision III/1 (The Basel Ban Amendment)?

No: X , Not yet. The Government is still considering being a member of these conventions.

11. Has your country ratified the Rotterdam Convention on Prior Informed Consent?
Yes: __
No: X (if not, please explain as specifically as you can, why not, what obstacles remain, and when might ratification be expected to occur, if at all?) Not yet. There are some articles remaining, as follows: -Law and regulation are not sufficient for implementing the Convention.-Lack of financial resources-Human resources in this field are very limited -Lack of technology. But, the government are considering ratifying this convention as soon as possible.
12. Has your country ratified the London Convention Protocol of 1996 (updating the London Convention)?

13. Has your country ratified the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants?

Not yet, but Cambodia had only signed the Stockholm Convention on 23 May 2001. Cambodia extremely aims to ratify the Stockholm Convention very soon but we need a time to get approval from the National Assembly.
